DESCRIPTION
The Night Shift is a first-person horror game that brings the player into a world that progressively becomes a harrowing nightmare. Trapped in a department store with no way out, your only means of defence is to not look away.
HISTORY
The Night Shift began in 2023 as a student project created by a six-person team, an atmospheric survival concept built in Unity. It was small, quiet, and unsettling in all the right ways. After graduation, one developer kept the idea alive, rebuilding it from the ground up in Unreal Engine.

In March 2024, the game launched into Early Access as a vertical slice: a focused glimpse of what it could become. Players were drawn in by its slow-burn tension, offbeat tone, and mysterious world.

Over the next 18 months, the game grew through steady updates and community feedback. In August 2025, The Night Shift launches fully with Version 1.0, featuring new areas, expanded systems, and a complete shift structure. The lights are on. The office is quiet. And your name’s still on the roster.
features
-
The mannequins only move when you're not watching. Turn away or look the wrong way, and they’ll be closer than before.
-
Each shift plays out differently, with randomized events and shifting pacing to keep players on edge.
-
Search the environment for tools, keys and other useful items that may aid your survival during the night.
-
Navigate from the store front to the backrooms and warehouse, uncovering new areas and environmental storytelling.
-
Each night brings subtle changes. Dirt and decay creep into once-clean spaces, and something unfamiliar begins to spread through the store’s forgotten corners.
-
Investigate cryptic clues, hidden rooms and narrative fragments that reveal the truth behind the mannequins and the store itself.
-
Stay immersed with a stripped-down interface that keeps your focus on the environment. No clutter, just tension.
-
The story branches at its climax, offering several possible outcomes depending on how you choose to face the end.
-
Built on dread, not cheap jumps. The horror escalates gradually, wrapping around you as the line between real and unreal dissolves.

about RED SPIRAL STUDIOS
Boilerplate
At Red Spiral Studios, I aim to create horror experiences that feel grounded, human and quietly unsettling. I believe that horror doesn’t need to shout to be effective, it just needs to feel close. My goal is to explore familiar fears in unexpected spaces, while weaving in just enough of the unknown to leave players with questions long after they stop playing. Through slow-burn tension, eerie detail and a touch of cosmic unease, I want to make games that stay with people, whether they play them alone at night or share them with others.
